Company description
Vital registration in Ghana (the Gold Coast) began as far back as 1888. However, at its inception, it was registration of deaths. It was not until 1912 that the registration of births was introduced. The registration system has gone through a series of transformations just as the law establishing it has seen a number of amendments. All this was aimed at improving upon the final delivery system.
Starting as the Cemeteries Ordinance of 1888, it was first amended in 1891. In 1912, it became the Births and Deaths and Burials Ordinance, which once again amended in 1926. This was finally replaced with the Registration of Births and Deaths Act of 1965, (Act 301) which is the legislation currently in force.
The Births and Deaths Registry was therefore established by the Act 301 of 1965,

Lost Birth Ceriticate.
My daughter is pursuing a course at University of Development Studies in Tamale. The school is demanding for her birth certificate which was first issued in Manhyia Kumasi with entry No. 911. Later some changes were made to her name in Accra and a new certificate was issued which she misplaced. How can she get a replacement.

I went to sunyani branch to process biometric birth certificate the told me that two weeks, it's been more than a month now whenever I call him he will be insulting me. Telling me all sort of stories now he's even saying that there's no one at the Accra office.

Stupid service with headless leadership
Never happy with your work. Does covid19 also affected your tools for working? From February to today 29 June I can't even get my birth certificate to process my passport. They didn't give me receipt after paying ¢70 for the birth certificate on Ho, Volta region. What a stupid country to live. They are expecting me to bribe to get my certificate I will never do that .

Same with me My Dear. I have spent almost Ghc 200.00 on just birth certificate with no receipt given even upon arrival request. But still here is a mistake on it. Not satisfied with their services at all!!!????????????

The most horrible and corrupt department i have ever seen. Verification for my kids birth certificates took over a month without results. An ugly excuse of a ledger been locked up in a room somewhere and couldn't be found.

Incompetence in dealings
I sorted to make a biometric birth certificate after a long and stressful time of waiting the certificate came and it had a mistake with my date of birth.
My dad wanted to make a new certificate since his old sheet was worn out so I added mine to his.
After another long time of waiting, his certificate came back with the names spelt wrong.
When I went to the office at Tema to tell them the National Service Personnel there told me “ I am just a National Service Personnel, my duty is to take your document” .
What Country are we living? You give someone a document with false information and when the person gets into trouble the person who signed the document is not held responsible but the person using the document.
Let’s be wise and up to task on all these mistakes.

My birth certificate
Good evening about a month now, I apply for the biometric birth certificate to enable process my passport. I know it takes two weeks for it to be ready, but the correspondent who attend to me said it will ready in a months time. Am not in Accra, so I keep calling him to know how far it has reach but he doesn't answer my calls again.
