The West African CSR Excellence Awards is a sub-regional CSR Awards initiative that started off as the Ghana CSR Diary & Awards in 2011. It was launched jointly by the former Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon. Hanna Tetteh and the former President of the Association of Ghana Industries, Nana Owusu-Afari. It is supported by the CSR Diary magazine and more than 30 local and international media organisations across West Africa.

Since its inception in 2011, companies such as Barclays Bank, Nestle Ghana, Guinness Ghana, Mohinani Group, Stanbic Bank, Vodafone Ghana, Millicom Ghana,SC Johnson,Beige Capital, Latex Foam, Wire Weaving Industries, Azar Chemicals and few other socially-responsible companies have been recognised and awarded.
