DiscoveryTel is aiming to help shape the education, social and economic development in the country using broad-based internet provision.
The leadership have generated a dynamic culture, enabling impressive growth with hundreds of staff employed to service customers. The Company's state-of-the-art broadband wireless access network is based on WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access), a 4G global broadband wireless standard which provides stable and fast in excess of 45 megabit-per-second data rates. The 4G WiMAX network enables the delivery of last mile broadband wireless access and high quality, reliable internet services to customers in a cost effective manner. The 4G WiMAX was first rolled out by DTG in 2010, and was the first of its kind to be deployed in Ghana and West Africa, with the exception of Nigeria.
The current network is mainly concentrated around the "Golden Triangle" area of Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi, which represent the most densely populated region in the country and are home to over 90% of Ghana's major businesses and homes. In addition to Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi, the Company state-of-the-art network currently covers 10 other major cities (Obuasi, Tarkwa, Tamale, Techiman, Tema, Ho, Aflao, Winneba, and Asamankese) in Ghana, which results in DiscoveryTel lead market share as measured by nationwide geographic coverage.
