BRIEF HISTORY OF TODAH HOSPITAL
Todah Hospital WAS established on the 8th day of October 2015 as a Clinic. In 2016, the facility upgraded to a hospital status with a prescription level C. The hospital started with 15 beds. Today, the hospital bed capacity stands at 45. Indeed, in 2015, the staff strength stood at 15. However, the current staff strength stands at 200 with 3 Medical Doctors.
The facility is located at Asonkore in Obuasi East District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The hospital has Seven (7) Board Members and Seven Management members.
In fact, Todah Hospital is a Client focused Health facility. We, however, placed the Client at the center of our healthcare delivery. Indeed, Client satisfaction is our joy.
Challenge: Our Clients' focused nature has increased our Client base which has made most Clients sleep on the floor. Indeed, if these clients are asked to seek medical care at other health facilities knowing the health-related issues regarding sleeping on the floor, they will not go.

PROFILE OF THE HEAD OF THE FACILITY
Currently, the Medical Director at the facility is Dr. Godwin Ayittey. He holds a Ph.D. in Alternative Medicines, a Doctorate in Hospital Administration, MBA in Healthcare and Hospital Management, MSc in Disaster Management, BSc in Marketing, and Cert. A. Dr. Godwin Ayittey is a member of the Association of Health Service Administrators of Ghana and also a member of Traditional Medicine Practice Council. He is a researcher.
The Hospital is duly registered with Health Regulatory Bodies such as;

TODAH HOSPITAL’S 5-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN FOR THE OPHTHALMOLOGY DEPARTMENT [2020-2024]
The 2019 annual performance revealed that eye-related conditions were part of the top ten diseases recorded at the facility. However, these eye patients were referred and would return to our hospital worst. Indeed, most of them refused the referral due to the distance and time spent at the referral centers. As a result, Management saw the need to establish an eye clinic hence 5-year strategic plan was developed.
YEAR ONE [2020]
Infrastructure development
The facility having realized the need to create an eye center, we will put up a structure with the following sub-units;
A.

2. Eye testing room
3. Eye operation room
4. Recovery wards [Males and Females]
5. Doctors and Nurses’ rooms
B. Training of eye professionals
YEAR TWO [2021] AND YEAR THREE [2022]
Procurement of eye equipment and service provision
The hospital will start procuring the basic equipment for the unit. In addition, all the necessary furniture will also be procured.
The eye department will officially be opened and only optometry services will be provided. We will partner with a renowned foreign institution to provide eye-corrected glasses in the form of a partnership.
YEAR FOUR [2023]
Creation of the Ophthalmology Department
The facility will provide the needed infrastructure. However, the hospital will search for a renowned Foreign partner who will provide the needed equipment for ophthalmological services.
We will lobby for the Foreign Partner to provide a complete Eye Care Education [ECE] for the eye professionals.

YEAR FIVE [2024]
Provision of eye satellite clinic services
The facility will be providing eye services in rural communities where eye defects and potential eye

Even though the Director of the facility holds a Ph.D. yet we went ahead to hire business Consultants that specialized in setting up new businesses to help our eye department conduct a detailed SWOT analysis.

GOALS
After reviewing the organization's threats and opportunities and studying the situation analysis data, we made a significant strategic shift in the eye department. We decided that long-term success required that we create an ophthalmology unit as early as possible. As a result of this decision, we updated our mission statement and specified several goals to accomplish this long-term objective. The new goals included:
A. Infrastructural development

1. Aggressively pursue the building of the eye department
2. Acquire the necessary licenses to operate the eye department
3. Examine the official opening of the eye department
4. Aggressively setting up an ophthalmology unit in addition to the optometry unit
Action plan
1. The Head of the Facility will be responsible for the building, licensing, opening, and creation of the various units in the eye department

By the end of 2021 [2019-2021], these activities should be accomplished
B. Partnership with an Eye Care Institution
Objectives
1. Partner with a renowned international eye care institution for the supply of ophthalmological equipment to enable us to conduct eye-related surgeries
2. Support the optometry department with modern equipment
3. Supply us with eyeglasses that we consider to be of high quality
4. Engage in an exchange service program where at least every year the international partner will deploy its specialists to our facility for an eye operation.
5. Provide training opportunities for our staff internationally.
Action Plan
The Head of the facility and the Head of the eye department will be responsible for searching for the renowned partner institution
Implementation
By the end of the first quarter, of 2023 [2022-2023], the renowned institution should be identified,
C. Training of professionals
Objectives
1. Sponsor a medical doctor to specialize in ophthalmology
2. Sponsor at least two nurses to be trained as ophthalmic nurses to assist the ophthalmologist
Action Plan
The selection of professionals to undertake the eye-specialized course will be done by the core management
The facility will bear the cost of the training
Implementation
The sponsorship program will commence in 2020. However, the spondees should complete the course in the first quarter of 2023.

D. Mobile eye centers
Objectives
1. Create at least 5 mobile eye centers within 5 years in 5 districts in the Ashanti region.
Action Plan
The selection of the districts will be made by the facility’s research team led by Dr. Godwin Ayittey. The selection will be done base on needs. The purpose of the creation of the centers is to bring eye care to the doorsteps of the people.

Implementation
The first- two centers are to commence in 2021, the third will start in 2022, and the last two will commence in 2023.

Todah Hospital is located at Asonkore in Obuasi East District. Dr. Ayittey Godwin is the Director of the facility. Dr. Ayittey holds PhD, MSc, MBA, BSc and Cert A. However, Dr. Okyere in the Medical Officer at the facility. Todah hospital is a District level facility with prescription level C. The facility is a mission hospital. We provide Theater services (Major surgeries), Laboratory services, Ante-natal and Post-natal services, maternity services, Admission, Scan services, Mental health services, Pharmacy services and General medicine.
