Holy Family Hospital Berekum

Holy Family Hospital was established in 24th April 1948 as Clinic in Catholic Diocese of Kumasi by the Medical Mission Sisters (MMS). In 1950, the clinic has grown to the status of a 12 bed hospital with 2 medical Doctors. In 1973, Diocese of Sunyani was created out of Diocese of Kumasi. With the creation of Catholic Diocese of Sunyani, the hospital became under the Episcopal jurisdiction of catholic Bishop of Sunyani and the MMS continued to run the Facility till 1982. Gradually the Ownership of the hospital was transferred to Bishop of Sunyani

Since its humble beginning in the late 40s the hospital has grown in size and stature in to a municipal hospital offering a range of clinical, preventive and primitives services not only the people of Brong Ahafo but also to adjacent districts

the neighbouring regions and even neighboring countries like Ivory Coast. One of the significant achievement of the hospital in recent times has been the accreditation of the hospital by the Ghana Medical and Dental council in the training of the residents and house officers in 2004.The training of the residents has however, suffered some set back due to lack of personnel to continue the program but that of house officers is ongoing in following specialty disciplines-Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
