    An accounting and finance professional with more than 14 years’ experience in corporate compliance, general
    accounting, payroll, and budgeting and grant project management. Adept at implementing innovative
    accounting practices and procedures to improve efficiency. Strong financial management skills with experience
    in an international engineering consultancy firm, donor support project management, an international NGO and
    in a retail business. Relevant skills include:
    • Hands-on experience at setting up and managing accounts in accordance with European

    WORK EXPERIENCE
    Grants and Compliance Manager
    JHPIEGO Corporation (November 2015 – December 2018)
    I report to the Deputy Chief Finance Officer (Compliance) and Country Director and:
    • Verified, on a weekly basis, that accounting transactions are reasonable, properly recorded and are
    authorized in accordance with Jhpiego policies and procedures
    • On a weekly basis, verified that outstanding travel advances to employees were reconciled on time with
    appropriate documentation, including itemized bills.
    • Verified that procurement process followed competitive sourcing or a sole source justification memo was
    provided prior to purchase; appropriate documentation for all purchases were reviewed and attached to
    related files, such as quotes, invoices, receipts and that purchase orders and Basis for Value Selection
    were appropriately reviewed and approved
    • Conducted risk-based compliance field visits (spot checks) to assess effectiveness of internal controls
    during training and workshops at least twice in a month
    • Conducted monthly QBE Due Diligence and random sample review of 25% of monthly transaction
    vouchers for their availability, completeness and reasonableness and report findings to management by
    the 15th of following month
    • Monitored and ensured corrective actions were implemented for all internal compliance reviews and
    desk reviews by December 30, 2018
    • Vouched that Country Office budgets were adequately managed in accordance with agreements and
    regulations.
    • Conducted pre-award assessment and developed training modules for sub-grantee capacity building
    Documented the process by which sub-grantees were selected for awards, and notified applicants and
    other stakeholders of awards
    • Assisted sub-grantees in developing work plans, monitoring progress, tracking expenses and preparing
    reports
    • Mentored and provided technical support to sub-grantees to improve their financial systems and
    reporting under sub-agreements with Jhpiego
    • Organised periodic grantee meetings aimed at ensuring diffusion of best practices among grantees and
    promoting peer-learning
    • Reviewed sub-awardee reports and invoices and submitted same to Finance within 48 hours of receipt
    of such invoices and reports
    • Conducted field visits each sub-awardee to monitor implementation of grant projects, track deliverables,
    validate activity and cost compliance and ensure narrative and financial reports were on time and in
    accordance with the USAID procedures and requirements
    • By playing the role of liaison officer of sub-wards between country office and sub-awardees or Baltimore,
    responded to all enquiries and concerns within 48 hours of receipt of such correspondence
    • Compiled and disseminated the final grants implementation report
    • Assisted in developing or adapting manual, formats, procedures, and regulations to be used
    for formulating, executing, monitoring, and closing grants according to USAID regulations
