Volunteer Work in an orphanage

The death rate in Ghana which is very high throughout the years is the cause of children living under poor environment is a major problem in Ghana. Most children bear this ordeal due to the many factors which consist of neglect by parents, poor standard of living, abuse by parents or relatives and poor living conditions. Over the years many children are forced to live outside their home due to these conditions and most of them found themselves living in the street either to involve themselves in trading so that they can survive on the streets.
The project of offering an orphanage home with people willing to offer services without taking anything as a reward than thank you is to give comfort and bring happiness on the faces of these children by way of, giving them shelter, family, skills and good living standards until they are adopted or giving back to family members who are willing and be able to take care of these children or provide them with better life.
OGVO provides volunteers who have the capability and willingness to help a brother, a sister or anyone in need of such supports. Making the orphanage projects in Ghana a better place for others who are in need is a fulfilling deed, as volunteers spend a lot of hours a day to change the lives of desperate and destitute children.
Role of Volunteer’s
The role of a volunteer is created around making the orphanage home a happy place for all children there by way of:
• Teaching (English, maths, science, etc)
• Help and teaching them in the brushing of their teeth
• Helping the children in eating healthily
• Help children after school in doing their homework
• Providing other activities to make the children’s life more better
• Involving the children in games, sports, music and dancing etc
• Help the home in making their daily chores
• Helps in laying their beds
• Helps in cloth changing especially the younger once
• Walking them to school everyday
