Counselling is about giving yourself permission to express your feelings. My role as your counsellor is to accept you as you are without judgement and always strive to be real with you. You will then hopefully feel safe enough to share with me how you are truly feeling rather than how you ‘should’ be. By exploring what is going for you right now we can get a better understanding of where your feelings stem from. They may originate from something that happened to you in the past, perhaps even as far back as your childhood. Some feelings, such as anger, fear, guilt and shame, may have been played a role at some point in your life, but now they are just getting in the way. Becoming more aware of why you feel the way you do and how it affects your behaviour means you can reflect on how these emotioins could be affecting your relationships and family dynamics. You may realise that there are some feelings you don’t have to feel anymore, you can now choose how to feel. And you don’t have to do it alone. Together, we will support you in finding more positive ways of managing your feelings and being in harmony with yourself.
