It is a simple system where the liquid is separated from the solid waste (faecal matter) through a porous medium embedded in the system. The effluent is then treated in there and drain away. Additionally, Macro and microorganisms (genetically modified ones) are then introduced to degrade the solid (faecal matter) thus making the system empty at all times.
