Consultant, Research and Economist

Selom Apanya is an Economist, Researcher and a Management Consultant with almost a decade experience in providing professional consultancy services to both public and private sector agencies in Ghana.
For the last five (5) years, Selom has held the position of Senior Assistant Consultant/Supervisor within the Firm of Shawbell Consulting Limited. He has risen through the rank to become an integral member of the Shawbell Consulting team. His time with the Firm has seen him work on numerous consultancy assignments in thematic areas ranging from Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), Policy Development, Political Economy Analysis, Organisational Reform and Strengthening, Strategic Planning, Research, Impact Assessments, Baseline Surveys, Data Collection and Analysis, Training and Capacity Building, etc. Also, as a Consultant, he has worked in a number of multi-cultural teams. He has also had the opportunity of working on projects funded by donors such as the European Union (EU), the World Bank, GIZ, DFID, WHO, UNDP and SECO.
Prior to joining Shawbell Consulting, Selom served as an Associate Consultant at MAPLE Consult. During his time with the firm, he served as an Economist on a World Bank sponsored Project dubbed, the First Year Investment Programme (FYIP) under the Ghana Urban Water Project (GUWP). The dictates of the projects required the consultants to undertake a baseline survey and impact assessment of the GUWP. Selom in his position as the Project Economist played a critical role in the successful execution of the Project.
Selom also worked as an Assistant Researcher with the African Health Economics and Policy Association (AfHEA). During his time with the Association, Selom partook in a number of high-profile surveys sponsored by the World Health Organisation and the Rockefeller Foundation.
Selom recently represented Ghana for the 2017 Seminar on Talent Reserve for International Organisation for Developing Countries in Beijing, China. The seminar was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and organised by the Academy for International Business Officials.
Selom holds an MPhil and BA in Economics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
