Event Organizer for GFRA 

 

BackgroundThe Feed the Future Ghana Fisheries Recovery Activity (GFRA) is a five-year USAID funded activity to mitigate the near collapse of Ghana’s small pelagic fisheries – sardinellas, mackerels, and anchovies – to establish a foundation for their ecological recovery while also improving the socioeconomic well-being, food security, and resilience of fishers and coastal communities.  This will be accomplished through five strategic approaches:
 

Objective 1: Aligning fisheries capacity with ecological carrying capacity of the small pelagic fisheries while enhancing the socio-economic well-being and resilience of artisanal fisherfolk 

Objective 2: Increasing the quality and value of artisanal fish products to maintain household income and enhance availability of nutritious foods for local and regional markets 

Objective 3:  Strengthening transparency, accountability, and co-management in governance practices for fisheries policymaking, regulation, and enforcement 

Objective 4:  Strengthening constituencies to promote and implement sustainable fisheries management; and 

Objective 5:  Improving use of science and research for policy and management decisions 

GFRA will implement these strategic approaches in an integrated fashion in communities across Ghana’s four coastal regions: Greater Accra, Volta, Central, and Western. GFRA is working with the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, the Fisheries Commission, fishers, traders, processors, and the associations that represent them, and community leaders, elected officials and traditional chiefs, and civil society organizations. Contracting MechanismAn Indefinite Quantity Subcontract (IQS) will be used as a result of this solicitation process. It does not authorize work but sets up rules and regulations that govern work authorized for future task orders (TOs). It is a contract mechanism that works well when it is not practical to determine precisely defined and priced services and supplies at the time of an IQS award. Tetra Tech ARD will issue task orders to authorize specific work. The task order will be within the general scope and time frame of the IQS. Having an IQS in place and the ability to quickly issue task order requests provides a flexible mechanism to quickly engage one or more firms to meet the project’s needs. The pricing and structure of each task order will follow the guidelines of the agreed upon subcontract. Objective/Purpose of the SOWGFRA is looking for an event organizer to manage GFRA events in Ghana. GFRA will consider hiring separate event planners in different Regions (Western, Central, Volta etc.) if needed. The successful event organizing subcontractor will have responsibility for the preparation and management of specific logistical issues and arrangements related to implementing a successful event in Ghana. Working closely with project staff, the subcontractor will identify and work with suitable service providers, as needed, and liaise with these service providers regarding floor layout, sound equipment, and other related arrangements to prepare for the event and ensure that each event runs smoothly. The subcontractor will also ensure the availability of an efficient secretariat and administrative support.
