Amasaman Branch
My cousin sent some funds to his house minder through Moneygram. The minder went to the Amasaman Branch to cash it. They refused to cash it because they argue that his name, Reindorf is not a Ghanaian name. This is the cape of a string of horrible experiences at that post office. No wonder the postal service is in Shambles.

Poor and Discourteous Service Delivery by Some Some Front Office Staff at the General Post Office
My mum went to ask for the replacement of the key of our Post Office Box (at the GPO Headquarters, Accra Central) we have owned for 43 years only for some two front office staff to seize the key from my mum; saying that, unless my Dad in whose name, the post box is found writes to them from the UK where he has been residing for over thirty years, for the replacement of the spoilt key, they would not give the spoilt post box key my Mum gave to them.

In spite of my Mum's explanation that, my Dad has been in the UK for a long time; and that he has sons who can write for the replacement of the keys, these two discourteous front office staff at the GPO refused to give her back the keys.

I am wondering how in this modern world, we could have such disrespectful staff working in the Ghana Post, let alone at the Headquarters. In spite of my submission of an official complaint online for the address of this violation of my family's rights I have not yet heard from the General Post Office.

Indeed, the Ghana Post seems a big joke in spite of the implementation of the Ghana Post GPS. Truly, the Ghana Post needs complete overhauling!

threatened by the Post Office because I speak the truth, they are thieves stealing money
I went to the main Postoffice in Accra to collect my package of foodstuff. He charged me half of the worth of the package while foodstuff is supposed to be dutyfree as written in their customs procedures. Then he told me only diplomatic people get their stuff free which is also a lie. He keeps changing his stories. The postoffice worker (John Kwotuah) even treatened me on facebook he will get me arrested next time so that I know my limit. There will be no next time, but the only people that should get arrested is those thieves at the postoffice for taking people's money while they are not supposed to do that. Sending a package by post to Ghana is not the same as anywhere else in the world, in Ghana they charge you any amount they like, so the people can never collect their stuff free of charge which is ridiculous.

Demonstration against ghana post
Ghana post is full of corrupt officials especially that fair woman at the EMS counter, and as for the customs officials, they are even more than the notorious armed robber called ataayi and kombien. For the past two months now my parcel has still gotten to me and when you track they will tell you it is still in transit. We the affected ones need to embark on a serious demonstration against these crooks who call themselves civil servants

I am beyond disappointed with my service at Ghana Post, I am actually ashamed to be linked with Ghanaian services and this is not an exception. I have just been back to Ghana and my partner sent me a phone as my phone stopped working. I am yet to see a sign of this phone, its been eight weeks. As far as I know the old management were removed due to corruption and various unscrupulous behavior, the new are not that much different, Akuffo-Addo sorry to say. The Ordinary Ghanaian, I fear will be forever left with below sub-standard service, as well as politicians and a civil service worth nothing including the people in it. I urge anyone who has had an issue with Ghana Post to write to get in touch, I intend to take them on. This is unacceptable and its one rhetoric I refuse to be cast aside and make do with " this is Ghana, its the way it is!"

these people are real thieves,they are supposed to act as Customs and let you open the package (as described in their "customs procedures"; http://gra.gov.gh/docs/info/customs/customs_procedures.pdf) but when they look and see they can use the items themselves, they charge any amount they like, so either way they get something out of it. Food items and personal items are duty free, but nevertheless they still charge about 30 euro or more before you can take the box away. When people cannot pay, they keep the items themselves or when they sell it the Government gets the money as described in their rules, but that aint happening, the people at the post office chop the items themselves. So think twice before you send a package.

Check part of their written "customs procedures" on page 11 on their link;
http://gra.gov.gh/docs/info/customs/customs_procedures.pdf

.....which is not being followed up, thieves!!

Is it really worth it writing this review? Who reads the reviews when written? Does anyone really care? I have ordered four different items online to be delivered to a niece at Mpreaso-Kwahu. They have all been stolen at either Nkawkaw or Mpraeso, I suspect. Two of them were so bulky that they could not have been stolen without collusion or incredibly poor managerial supervision. Stealing items by workers at Ghanaian post offices does not just inconvenience the senders and receivers, it is a disgrace to the nation. International sellers of items bought and shipped but which and are stolen by postal workers in Ghana have to be informed. It is quite embarrassing when you want to order something online to be shipped to Ghana and you are informed that the item cannot be shipped to your destination country.

Samuel, I said the same thing is it even worth it write a review. But we have to let them know that we know what they are doing and it's not right. It's so sad that nothing is being done about this and I don't even want to imagine how long it's been going on. But we have spoken and our voice have been heard.
